New Baptismals: Kendrick and Shavea

April Baptisms: 2 Inspiringly Changed as 5 Ready for the Plunge!

The atmosphere inside the sanctuary hasn’t just been warm lately; it’s been electric. There is a specific kind of hum that vibrates through a church family when they realize they aren’t just witnessing a routine schedule of services, but a genuine, living movement of the Spirit. Our recent April baptism was a month defined by breakthrough, anchored by the powerful public declarations of Shavea and Kendrick. Now, as the calendar turns toward May 17th, that spark has grown into a wildfire. With five more individuals ready to take the plunge, our community is leaning into a season of growth that feels like it’s only just beginning.

A Legacy Realized: Kendrick’s Journey to the Water

Every story of grace is unique, but Kendrick’s journey is a beautiful testament to the power of persistence and the seeds planted by family. For years, Kendrick has been a familiar face alongside his grandmother, Tayna Porter. To watch him walk toward the water during the April baptism was to see the culmination of countless prayers and years of steady, faithful guidance.

Kendrick is a true product of our Kingdom Kids ministry. It was there, among friends and his grandmother, that the abstract concepts of Sunday school lessons became a concrete reality. He didn’t just learn about Jesus; he learned who Jesus is and the staggering depth of what He did to bridge the gap and pursue a personal relationship with him.

Kendrick

The transformation wasn’t a quiet one. Kendrick stepped out during the altar call of a Sunday service to announce his saving faith to the entire congregation, a bold move that set the tone for his public profession. When the day finally arrived for the April baptism, the physical conditions were a test of their own. As Kendrick entered the tank, the crowd’s immediate reaction was both awe and humor: the water was ice cold. But the chill of the water couldn’t dampen the fire in the room. Kendrick emerged from that cold water a changed man, leaving his old life behind and signaling to the entire church that God is actively working in our next generation.

Shavea: A Ripple Effect of Faith

Alongside Kendrick stood Shavea, whose presence in the water marked another victory for the kingdom. Shavea’s journey began when she started attending with her mother and family, showing the incredible ripple effect of an open invitation. Watching her take that step during the April baptism was a visual reminder that no matter how someone enters our doors—whether through a lifelong family legacy or a recent invitation—the destination is the same: the arms of a loving Father.

Shavea

The impact of Shavea’s decision is already manifesting in beautiful ways. In a stunning display of how faith spreads through friendship, one of the five people stepping into the water this May is Shavea’s best friend. It’s a powerful testament to the fact that when one person says “yes” to God, it gives those closest to them the courage to do the same. Her bravery in the tank has served as an inspiration, proving that our church isn’t just a place to sit in a pew, but a place where lives are shared and changed together.

The May 17th Surge: The Momentum Continues

If the April baptism provided the spark, May 17th is going to be a massive milestone in this ongoing season of revival. We are thrilled to announce that five more people are prepared to enter the waters on the third Sunday of May.

This isn’t just a growth metric for a news update; it’s five distinct lives, five unique battles won, and five new members of the family taking their stand. We are growing at a pace that demands we stop and pay attention. When people ask what is happening at our church, the answer is simple: God is moving, and people are responding. While this Sunday is shaping up to be one of our most significant celebrations yet, we have a sense that the floodgates are just starting to open. We are keeping the door wide open for even greater numbers and more stories of transformation in the months to come following the momentum of our April baptism.

An Open Invitation to the Community

Maybe you’ve been watching from the sidelines. Maybe you’ve been looking for a place where you can feel the tangible presence of a community that actually cares about one another. This is your formal invitation to come hang out with us on Sunday, May 17th.

You don’t need to have it all figured out to be there. You don’t need a church home or a background in theology. You just need to show up and witness something truly special. There is nothing quite like the sight of someone coming out of that water, surrounded by a family that loves them. It is raw, it is real, and it is a reminder that hope is never lost.

Come be a part of the celebration. Come see why we’re still buzzing from our April baptism. Come see what happens when a church family decides that they aren’t done yet.
